January 11, 2011 started out like any other Tuesday morning. The alarm sounded and my day began. On my way to work that morning, I decided that the strange feelings I'd been having and the absence of my period warranted a stop at the store. I ran into Tom Thumb and got a Gatorade and a pregnancy test. I'm sure the checker got a chuckle. Around 9am, I snuck off to the faculty restroom and took the test. Tears filled my eyes as I watched those two red lines come into focus. I was shocked because Jason and I were not even planning to start "trying" until January or February. You know what they say...when you have plans, God laughs. So now plans had changed. We were going to have a baby! I was happy, excited, scared, nervous, but most of all I was anxious to share the news with Jason. We already had plans to have lunch in my office that day, so I decided that would be a perfect time to tell him. I went back to my office, trying to conceal any evidence of my recently discovered news. I wasn't able to concentrate on work, so I decided to make a power point presentation as a way to tell Jason the exciting news. I used pictures from us dating (first comes love), us getting engaged and married (then comes marriage), and then a picture of the positive pregnancy test (then comes...). Jason watched the slide show and then just looked at me. "Are you pregnant?!?" Why yes, honey, I am!! He was also, shocked, happy, excited, and a little scared. Our lives were about to change forever, and so began the greatest adventure of my life.
January 11, 2012 started out like any other morning. Any other morning in the last four months that is. Instead of the alarm sounding, I woke up to the soft hunger cry of my son, Hayes. I walked in his room and was greeted with a smile and some kicks. He had his breakfast bottle, played with daddy, and we got ready to get the day started. Instead of meeting me for lunch today, Jason is meeting me at the pediatrician's office for Hayes' 4 month check-up.
My what a difference a year makes...
Life is COMPLETELY different, huh? I can't wait to see all you've written a year from now!
